Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC) envisioned as a state of the art incubation centre catering to the needs of start ups in the broad areas of Life Sciences has been setup and running in its full strength.
Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC) is an initiative of Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), Dept of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka, with liberal funding support from Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India for instrumentation. It is located within Bangalore Helix Park at Electronic City. The Centre is shaping up to be a world class Incubation Centre with Central Instrumentation Facilitywith total built up area of above 50,000 sq ft. in a 10 Acre campus in electronic city.
The Centre is nestled between thriving Academic Institutions like Institute of Biotechnology and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Centre for Human Genetics and the upcoming area for anchoring Big Companies/MNC’s. Thus, the Centre provides a crucial link within the developing Bio- cluster, the Bangalore Helix Park.
The Centre caters to the broad areas of Life Sciences i.e, Healthcare (MedTech/ Pharma/Bio-Pharma), Agriculture, Food/ Nutrition, Industrial Biotechnology and Environmental Biotechnology.
Facility available include Common Instrumentation, Proteomics and small molecule analysis lab, Bio-separations, Microbiology lab, Molecular biology lab, Bio-suites, Con-focal facility, Plant Tissue Culture, Chromatography systems, histology lab, Flow cytometry, Fermentation room and uninterrupted power supply with UPS and generator backups.
The common instrumentation and other labs have been equipped with many advanced scientific instruments to support innovation and scale-up.
