The Department of IT, BT and S&T has launched a program called “CHETANA” Empowering Girls with Technology which is implementing through ICT Society. This program is targeted at Girls Toppers in SSLC from Govt. Schools across Karnataka, to educate, Empower, Mentor and Support them.
In the First Year [2016] 333 SSLC toppers Girls from Govt. Schools in Karnataka were invited to a 10-days residential Camp called Chetana orientation camp at Mysore Infosys Campus and awarded Samsung sponsored Chrome Books hands-on training session was conducted i.e. How to use the Laptops. Other activities included group building exercises, sports events, Design thinking workshops, Movie show, nature walk, yoga, Interaction session with leaders from various domains like science, technology, arts, medicine, sports etc.
And on 19th, July 2016 “CHETANA BANGALORE URBAN & RURAL” event organized at VTPC hall, BMTC Complex, Shanti Nagar, Bangalore, and issued Samsung Chrome Books to 50 SSLC toppers (girls) from the School of BBMP.
“CHETANA WINTER SCHOOL” a residential program for 10 days i.e. from 16th, October 2016 to 27th, October 2016 was conducted in various institutions at Bangalore i.e. IISc, UAS, IBAB, JNCASR, CHG and MSRIM. The winter school included technical lectures, lab sessions and day outing to vishweshwaraiah museum and Metro Ride.
The second batch Orientation camp was conducted during 5th, May 2017 to 11th, May 2017 at Mysore Infosys Campus for 349 girls. SAMSUNG sponsored tablets and 4G-SIM card from BSNL were given to CHETANA scholars. Various activities like group building exercises, sports events, Design thinking workshops, Movie show, nature walk, yoga, Interaction session with leaders from various domains like science, technology, arts, medicine and sports were conducted.
On 09th, April 2018 “CHETANA BANGALORE URBAN & RURAL” event organized at VTPC hall, BMTC Complex, Shanti Nagar, Bangalore, and issued Samsung Tabs to 51 SSLC toppers (girls) from the School of BBMP and again they were Invited on 19th May 2018 and provided Training on how to use the Tabs, Personality development, Entrepreneurship Development and Group activities etc,.
Second batch “CHETNHANA WINTER SCHOOL” residential program for 8 days i.e., from 15th to 22nd Dec 2017 was organized in various institutions at Bangalore i.e. JNCASR, IISc, IBAB, UAS (GKVK), BMCRI and MSRIM. The winter school included technical lectures, lab sessions, Industry visit and day outing to Vidhan Soudha, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and Metro ride etc.
The 3rd batch “Chetana Orientation camp” was conducted during 25th, May 2018 to 01st, June 2018 at Mangaluru Infosys Campus 400 girls toppers were invited to the program out of that 298 girls have attended the event. SAMSUNG sponsored Tabs to CHETANA scholars. Other various activities conducted like group building exercises, sports events, Design thinking workshops, Local Cultural activity (Yakshagana Clinic), yoga, Interaction session with leaders from various domains like science, technology, arts, Banking, Entrepreneurship Development and sports were conducted.
